VXLAN
An overlay that carries layer two network segments inside UDP packets across a layer three network, allowing about sixteen million segments instead of the 4,094 a VLAN allows.
Each segment has a 24-bit identifier, so a large cloud or data centre can give every tenant its own isolated network. The physical network only sees ordinary routed packets between the hosts that wrap and unwrap them. It is defined in RFC 7348.
