SMB/CIFS mount
Mounting a Windows or Samba file share on Linux with the cifs file system type, which speaks the SMB protocol.
In more detail
mount -t cifs //server/share /mnt/share -o credentials=/root/.smbcred mounts it, with the password kept in a root-only file rather than on the command line. In fstab it needs _netdev so it waits for the network.
